Championing women in crypto today and every day

Crypto was built on the idea of breaking barriers and reshaping finance. But like many tech-driven industries, it started out as a male-dominated space. Women were often underrepresented, yet they still found ways to push forward, contribute, and lead.

Today, that’s changing. More women are making their mark in crypto, leading innovation, navigating regulatory challenges, and shaping the industry’s future. But for crypto to truly reach its full potential, representation, inclusion, and leadership need to be part of the foundation, not an afterthought.

At Bitstamp, we see this every day. The women across our teams are breaking barriers, driving change, and proving that crypto is for everyone. We asked them to share their experiences.

How women find their way into crypto

Many women enter crypto from unexpected paths, showing that there’s no single way to succeed in this space. Crypto is open to anyone willing to learn, stay curious, adapt, and embrace change.

"My wish to pursue a career in crypto came from a possibility that crypto gives to retail investors to access financial markets. I wanted to be a part of something new that will shape the future of finance." Silvija Pajk, Accounting Team Lead

“I got into this industry nine years ago and didn't have a single clue about crypto! I feel as if I grew with the industry, learning new things and technologies along the way, and all of a sudden, I was ‘working in crypto’!”Valentina Cerar, Head of Payments

The thrill of working in crypto

Crypto is fast-paced, ever-changing, and full of opportunities. And for many women in the industry, that’s exactly what makes it exciting.

“Since the industry is changing so fast, no matter what position you’re in, your work will never be boring! As someone who struggles with finding things that don’t become boring after a while, this industry is perfect for me.”Tea Rajh, CRM Analyst

“My favorite part about working in crypto? The ever-changing market and volatility create a dynamic environment where the word ‘boring’ doesn’t exist.”Silvija Pajk, Accounting Team Lead

Representation and inclusion matter

The numbers still tell a clear story: crypto is male dominated. But that’s changing, and the women in the industry today are helping to drive that shift. They’re leading, mentoring, and creating spaces where other women can thrive.

“Just exist! Join the movement. Crypto is not and should not only be for ‘crypto bros.’ If we want the full potential of crypto to resonate across the world, we cannot and should not exempt 50% of the population, women, from the industry.”Valentina Cerar, Head of Payments

"We are blessed to have so many inspiring women to choose from! Amanda Wick is a pioneer for women within the industry, as founder of the Association for Women in Cryptocurrency. She drives inclusive initiatives such as the ‘unmanel your panel’ campaign and creates spaces for collaboration between women in crypto on a global scale." – Charlotte Baker, Head of Compliance and Regional Policy (UK MLRO)

So, let’s keep the momentum going

Women have already made a huge impact in crypto, but there’s still work to be done. Visibility, leadership, and inclusion don’t happen on their own, they require action.

What can we do? Support, mentor, and amplify the voices of women in crypto. Encourage more women to explore opportunities in this space. Push for inclusive hiring, leadership development, and policies that create a level playing field.

Let’s continue uplifting, supporting, and championing the women in crypto.

Not just today but every day.
