Account Access Update for Bitstamp Europe Retail Users

Account Access Update for Bitstamp Europe Retail Users

Starting 15 October 2026, Bitstamp will begin inviting certain retail users in the EEA and Switzerland whose accounts are held with Bitstamp Europe S.A. to access and manage their existing Bitstamp accounts through the Robinhood app. The transition will take place in phases, with eligible users receiving direct communications from Bitstamp explaining when and how the change applies to them.

This is a change to the interface through which these retail users access Bitstamp services. It is not a transfer of their Bitstamp accounts to Robinhood.

Bitstamp Europe remains the service provider

Users included in the transition will continue to hold their accounts with Bitstamp Europe S.A., which will remain their contractual counterparty and crypto-asset service provider. Their crypto-assets and fiat funds will continue to be held with Bitstamp Europe.

Bitstamp Europe S.A. is a Luxembourg company authorised and supervised by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and as a Payment Institution under Luxembourg law. Its CASP and Payment Institution authorisations have been passported across the EU/EEA, allowing Bitstamp Europe to provide its crypto-asset and payment services on a cross-border basis throughout the EU/EEA.

The Robinhood app will provide the technology and user interface through which participating retail users can access their Bitstamp accounts and supported Bitstamp services. This brings Bitstamp's regulated crypto offering together with Robinhood's consumer-focused technology and user experience, while the underlying regulated crypto-asset services continue to be provided by Bitstamp Europe.

A phased transition for retail users

From 15 October 2026, the first group of eligible Bitstamp Europe retail users will be able to connect their existing Bitstamp accounts to the Robinhood app. Users will receive instructions directly from Bitstamp when access becomes available to them.

For the first group, users will have until 14 November 2026 to connect their account. After that date, their existing Bitstamp interface will become read-only. Account history and statements will remain available there, while trading and other supported account functionality will be accessible through the Robinhood app.

Users do not need to transfer their crypto-assets or fiat funds to Robinhood as part of this process. Once their account is connected, supported balances and Bitstamp services will be accessible through the Robinhood interface.

The transition will be rolled out in phases to additional eligible retail users.

No change for Bitstamp institutional clients

This transition relates to Bitstamp Europe retail users only. It does not represent a broader migration of Bitstamp's institutional business to Robinhood.

Bitstamp institutional and corporate clients are not part of this retail app transition and will continue to access their Bitstamp accounts and services through the existing Bitstamp institutional interfaces as usual.

The change is part of the broader integration of Bitstamp and Robinhood following Robinhood's acquisition of Bitstamp, combining Bitstamp's regulated crypto infrastructure and services with Robinhood's technology and user experience.
